Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 23, 2026 (version 1.1)
3EGates ("we", "us") is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. In Ontario, the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in the course of commercial activity is generally governed by the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We have written this policy with reference to the fair information principles set out in PIPEDA.
1. Who is responsible
We are accountable for personal information under our control and have named a Privacy Officer who oversees our practices. You can reach the Privacy Officer at admin@3enet.ca or through our contact page.
2. What we collect
- Account information: your name, organization, work email address and password (stored only in scrambled form).
- Service records: information about the actions your connected tools send to us and the outcomes, so we can show you your history.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form, chat or email.
- Technical information: basic details such as IP address, browser type and sign-in times, used to keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.
We do not ask for more than we need. Please don't send us sensitive personal information about others unless it is necessary for the service.
3. Why we use it (purposes)
- to provide, maintain and support the service you signed up for;
- to keep accounts and the service secure and to prevent fraud and misuse;
- to answer your questions and send you service messages (for example, account confirmation, password resets, security alerts);
- to meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for purposes other than those above without your consent, unless the law requires or permits it.
4. Consent
By creating an account or contacting us, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure described here. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual limits; if you do, we may no longer be able to provide the service.
5. Emails and messages
We send service messages you need to use your account, such as account confirmation, password resets, security alerts and essential notices about the service. Marketing messages are different: Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL) sets rules for commercial electronic messages, and we will only send you marketing if you separately and expressly opt in. That choice is never pre-selected, is not required to use the service, and can be withdrawn at any time; every marketing message will include a working unsubscribe link. We keep a record of when and how consent was given or withdrawn.
6. Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
7. Sharing
We share personal information only with trusted service providers who help us operate (for example, hosting or email delivery), under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only for our purposes, or when required by law. Some providers may process information outside Ontario or Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
8. How we protect it
We use physical, organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, and we limit access to people who need it to do their jobs.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and then securely delete or anonymize it.
10. Breaches
PIPEDA requires organizations to report breaches of security safeguards involving personal information under their control that create a real risk of significant harm to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, to notify affected individuals, and to keep records of such breaches. If this happens, we will give those notices and keep those records.
11. Your rights
You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask how it has been used or shared. PIPEDA generally requires a response within 30 days (which may be extended in limited circumstances), and we aim to respond within that time. Contact the Privacy Officer at admin@3enet.ca.
12. Questions or complaints
Please contact us first and we will do our best to resolve your concern. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
13. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with its date and, for significant changes, notify account holders.
